The Kids' Summer Experience is a free program that encourages children from infants to those entering 5th grade to explore their worlds and expand their imaginations all summer long. This year, the program begins June 10 and ends August 17. Visit FCLS's teen site for information about the teen program, Beneath the Surface.
This year, children can embark on a "Dig Into Reading"-themed journey through underground topics such as caves, gardening, rocks and rabbits! Visit the library's online events calendar for details about upcoming events.
The library revamped the classic summer reading program and gave it a cutting-edge twist: This year, participants will receive an experience log with suggestions of fun activities to engage in throughout the summer.
After a participant completes eight activities, he or she can return to the library to choose a prize and to enter for the grand prize. Suggested activities include starting a rock collection, drawing a wildflower, reading a book about science and many more!
This year's prizes include books, ice cream, waterpark passes and other neat stuff. Grand prizes are an Apple iPad2 and gift certificates to the Imagination Station toy store in Kalispell.
The Flathead County Library System thanks Park Side Federal Credit Union for their generous financial and volunteer support of our summer programs for six years consecutively.
Signup for the program starts June 10. Call the Children's Department at 758-5822 with questions or for more information.
