2025 Teen Summer Experience

Welcome Travelers! Let your epic journey unfold this summer with Teen Summer Experience 2025. This year, we are offering workshops that will send you on adventures throughout the realm and lead you to the discovery of our fabled dragon hoard.


PASSIVE PROGRAMS


GAMEBOARD (GRADES 6-12)

Grab your Teen Summer Gameboard and join the dragon quest! As part of Summer Experience 2025, the gameboard invites teens to read, explore, and create. Complete the Reading Challenge to earn raffle tickets for movie passes, follow the adventure map to unlock a reward, and check out the full schedule of teen workshops. Finish the map and claim a dragon amigurumi kit, then bring it to a special Crafternoons event for help, ideas, and more!

REPURPOSED READS (GRADES 6-12)

Looking for a summer read you don’t have to return? Check out the Teen Repurposed Reads bookshelf! As part of Summer Experience 2025, the library is giving away books previously housed in the young adult collection. All books are in good condition and ready for a new home.

WORKSHOPS


BENTO BOXES (GRADES 6-12)

This Summer Experience we’re dishing up the perfect snack: Bento Boxes. Bento boxes are a lunch tradition originating from Japan. This program will feature cooking and designing your own take-home bento box! Space limited. Seats available first come, first served. Note: Our Bento Boxes will feature Japanese recipes. Ingredients include wheat, sesame, soy, eggs, and fish.

BATIK DYEING (GRADES 6-12)

Create your own unique pattern of flowing colors using ink and wax. Learn a modern way to do the ancient dyeing traditions of Batik. Space limited. Seats available first come, first served.

DRAGON EYE SCULPTURES (GRADES 6-12)

Bring a dragon’s stare to life! Design and sculpt a captivating dragon eye using air-dry clay, colored pencils, watercolors and glass cabochons. You’ll create a one-of-a-kind sculpture that looks straight out of a fantasy world. Space limited. Seats available first come, first served.
