The Youth Services team at ImagineIF Libraries plans and implements early literacy programs for babies, toddlers, and preschoolers in Kalispell, Bigfork, and Columbia Falls. Our goal in every Storytime is to connect with young children and their caregivers through books, songs, and interactive activities that foster early literacy and social emotional skills.

All through the town

+ the grasshoppers in the field go hop, hop, hop

Activities:

Sunflower Seed Sensory Tub
We filled our sensory tub with sunflower seeds to simulate dirt in the garden, and then we hid a bunch of felted vegetables and pretend worms inside! Kids used tiny gardening tools and some plastic carrots to explore scooping, pouring, and stacking!

Dot Marker Flowers
Dot marker flowers were a big hit, and a great way to practice our fine motor skills! Each child could use assorted colored dot markers to create patterns on their paper plate flower! We used a hole punch to allow us to attach a pipe cleaner stem to the flower when the project was complete.

Leaves in the Wind Tunnel
The wind tunnel is one of our most popular items in the library! While we usually put scarves inside, for this program we decided to switch it up by putting some pretend leaves in! The leaves swirled around creating the perfect fall windstorm, and then the kids got to use the toy rakes to clean up and go again!

Pretend Play Gardens
Kids also got to play with pretend gardening sets that allow them to build their own miniature gardens with plastic flower pieces.

Our job is to provide free and open access to books and information. With hands-on activities and experiences for all ages, we work to transform vision, dreams and desires into reality.
