Librarian Book Recs: October 2026

October 7, 2026, By in Staff Reads.

I’m Deidre—an avid book lover, Adult Programming Librarian for Flathead County Library, and Branch Manager of the Bigfork Library. I love when other people make monthly book plan lists, so I’d thought I’d share mine too!

October is really the start of the coziest season for reading, and I’m excited to read these newly published books.

  • Partita by Barbara Kingsolver – A new book by one of my favorite authors. I know it has something to do with music, grief, and reconnecting with people from the past.
  • Vibe: The Secrets of Strong Connections in a Lonely World by Adam Grant – I’ve really enjoyed Adam Grant’s previous books, and building community connections is basically my job, so I’m interested for sure!
  • Music Against the Night by Yiyun Li – Historical fiction about an 18th century Irish composer and his wife over their lifetime. I know this author writes lyrical books and I love a family saga.
